Every RELLE piece is cut and finished by hand in our Abuja atelier. Because our garments are made to order, choosing the right size at the point of purchase matters — and where a standard size will not do, made to measure is available on every piece.

All measurements are given in inches and refer to body measurements, not the finished garment. Our patterns include ease appropriate to each silhouette: a structured corset gown is cut closer to the body than a fluid boubou.

We offer two fits. Compare your own measurements against both charts and choose whichever sits closer to your shape.

1. Curvy measurement (shape)

Cut with a fuller hip and bust in proportion to the waist. Choose this chart if your hip measurement is noticeably greater than your bust.

How to measure

Take your measurements over light clothing, with a soft tape held snug against the body but never tight. If you can, ask someone to help — measuring your own back and shoulders is difficult to do accurately.

Bust — around the fullest part of the chest, tape level and parallel to the floor, arms relaxed at your sides.
Under-bust — directly beneath the bust, where a bra band sits.
Waist — around the narrowest part of the torso, usually just above the navel. Breathe out naturally; do not hold your stomach in.
High hip — around the upper hip and the top of the seat, roughly 3–4 inches below the waist.
Full hip — around the fullest part of the hips and seat, roughly 7–9 inches below the waist, feet together.
Thigh — around the fullest part of one thigh.
Sleeve length — from the shoulder point, over a slightly bent elbow, to the wrist.
Sleeve width — around the fullest part of the upper arm.

Choosing between two sizes

If your measurements fall between sizes, size up and let us take the piece in — a garment can be reduced far more gracefully than it can be let out.

Where your bust, waist and hips fall in different sizes — which is common, and not a flaw — order the size that matches your largest measurement, or choose made to measure so the piece is cut to your proportions from the start.

For structured pieces — corsetry, tailored blazers, anything boned or heavily beaded — we recommend made to measure. These silhouettes rely on precise fit to hold their shape.

Please note that made-to-measure and bespoke pieces are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged, as they are cut specifically for you.
